Career development opportunities for NT's young artists and arts workers

A Territory Labor Government initiative offers paid career development opportunities to young artists and arts workers, with applications now open.

Up to $10,000 per applicant is available to support this exciting new employment pathway through a three-month work placement.

Grants are open to, artists and arts workers aged 18 to 25 years, seeking paid career development opportunities or arts and cultural organisations looking to host a three-month placements.

NXT Gen ARTS is a new grant category offered through the 2021-22 Arts and Culture Grants Program and supports the upskilling of young artists and arts workers in the NT arts and cultural sector. It aims to assist young early career artists in gaining hands-on arts industry skills and knowledge relevant to the NT and to connect them with future employers in the arts sector.

Career development benefits and outcomes through this paid placement will include:

three months paid employment while developing key skills as an artist or arts worker; self-management as a professional artist;understanding arts management and the business of being an artist; andparticipation and contribution to creative industries and the next generation of arts professionals.

Applications are now open, with placements starting from 1 February 2022.
