Opening of new $4.6 million Braitling Preschool

Education Minister Eva Lawler today officially opened the new $4.6 million Braitling Preschool in Alice Springs.

Sixty students have enrolled at the new early childhood facility for the beginning of the 2017 school year.

Ms Lawler said new early childhood facilities like Braitling Preschool provided quality learning environments that meet the needs of students and help to engage them in their learning.

“Territorians deserve a Government that always puts them first - that’s why we are restoring trust in Government by investing in children right across the Territory,” Ms Lawler said.

“As part of this investment, Territory schools will receive an additional $124 million over the next four years.”

Ms Lawler described the new Braitling Preschool as an exciting time for our early learners and their families.

The facility has two dedicated learning areas for students and an outdoor learning space designed to facilitate adventure and learning.

“We know the first years of life and schooling are critical for young children and this new facility will support a more flexible education service for Alice Springs’ that is inclusive of the whole of school community and involves all students, families and staff,” she said.

“Having the new preschool located next to Braitling Primary School ensures a continuous education pathway for pre-schoolers into transition and primary school years.

“It also provides an opportunity for siblings of different ages to interact and support each other and for teachers to work collaboratively and share resources.

“Not only are we celebrating the opening of the new Braitling Preschool this week, Braitling Primary School will also be celebrating a milestone this year - 40 years of providing education to Alice Springs. I wish them all the best in their 40th year.”
