Minister for Environment and Natural Resources
The Gunner Government has fulfilled a key election commitment with the release of the Terms of Reference for the review of water licenses issued by the previous CLP Government.
Minister for Environment and Natural Resources Lauren Moss said the Government has listened to the serious community concern about water licenses over the last four years and has acted.
“We were clear before the election that we would conduct this review to ensure evidence based science and proper process was followed,” Ms Moss said.
“An open, transparent and fair process for awarding water licenses is crucial for giving industry the confidence to invest and create jobs.
“It’s also crucial for restoring community trust in the process.
“We are delighted to have secured the expertise of Dr Annette Davison and Megan Dyson to conduct this review.
“As promised before the election, water will continue to flow pursuant to all licenses while the independent review takes place.
“We look forward to receiving the review recommendations mid-year and ensuring this precious natural resource continues to provide jobs and support culture and recreation well into the future.”
The Terms of Reference and panel biographies are attached.
