Full STEAM Ahead: Tender Announced for Darwin High School STEAM Centre

The construction tender for the new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Centre at Darwin High School has been released.

Minister for Education, Eva Lawler, said the project was an election promise that will transform the learning environment at one of our oldest and largest schools.

“Territory Labor will always invest more in education because we know a good education leads to a good job,” Ms Lawler said.

“Quality learning facilities are part of that investment, and this new STEAM Centre will prepare young Territorians for the jobs of the future.

“This state-of-the-art facility will house 15 inter-connected classrooms over two levels, including hands-on workshops, and will house up to 400 students at any one time.

“As a multi-million dollar project, it is also a fantastic opportunity for local contractors and will create jobs during the construction process.”

The centre will be accessible to over 2000 students on the Bullocky Point Education Precinct, including students enrolled at the NT School of Distance Education during residential programs.

“This significant investment will provide students with a world-class learning facility,” Ms Lawler said.

The tender closes on 26 April, 2018.
