Creating Jobs and Improving Education Facilities: Tender Released

A tender for works to upgrade one of the Territory’s oldest primary schools is now open.

Minister for Education, Eva Lawler, said the project will improve the learning environment for Top End children and create jobs for local contractors.

“The Territory Labor Government is delivering on its promise of $6 million for Stage 1 of the Ludmilla Primary School Masterplan,” Ms Lawler said.

“We are investing in our schools to create a brighter future for the Territory – that’s how you restore trust in government.

“Contemporary learning spaces and new facilities help keep young children engaged in their learning. This major project will involve a complete refurbishment of the two-storey classroom block, which will include a dedicated Early Learning Centre for pre-school students.”

Local Member for Fong Lim, Jeff Collins, said the project has been developed in collaboration with parents, staff and students to determine a practical, staged approach to growing the school.

“The redevelopment of Ludmilla Primary School will allow for increased enrolments, preparing for future growth of our community, and providing a quality learning environment for children to achieve their full potential,” Mr Collins said.

“It will also provide a great opportunity for local companies, creating jobs when Territorians need them most.”

The tender will close on 4 May, 2018.
