Palmerston Water Park: The coolest and safest place to be

Office of the Chief Minister

Palmerston Water Park will be one of the coolest and safest places for Territorians to beat the heat, with the installation of CCTV cameras to complement a recently-completed new shade over the toddler pool.

The Territory Government is currently seeking tenders to supply, install, test and commission new CCTV cameras at the water park, which will improve public safety and provide increased protection to the park’s valuable assets.

The tender for the cameras closes on Monday 14 January 2019, with over 50 tenderers downloading the tender documents to date.

Works on the cameras are anticipated to commence by early March, with completion of the upgrade due by May 2019.

The new shade was constructed by local company, NT Shade, and delivers a cooler and sun-safe spot for families and children visiting the water park.

The shade project cost $100,000 and created five jobs.

Quotes from Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Eva Lawler

“These two projects will not only improve one of Palmerston’s best assets, making the park even more appealing for families using its facilities, they also create jobs for locals.

“The CCTV tender calls for the new cameras to be integrated with the current CCTV system to increase the coverage of security at the Palmerston Water Park.”

Quotes from Member for Brennan, Tony Sievers

“The Palmerston Water Park attracts close to 40,000 people per year and the upgrades to shade cover will increase visitation and offer families in the area more sun-safe ways to cool off on hot days.

“The shade fabric provided by NT Shade has the highest UV protection and will reduce pool water temperatures.”
