Sharing Darwin’s Delicious Culinary Culture with the World

Office of the Chief Minister

Darwin’s exotic culinary delights will be beamed across Australia with an exciting series set to be filmed in the Top End.

Through Screen Territory, the NT Government is partnering with SBS Food to fund “Delicious Darwin”, a series of eight half hour television episodes that will showcase the vibrancy of the Darwin food and culinary scene, including the diversity of ingredients and the quality of our produce and restaurants in and around Darwin.

With matched funding from SBS, the NT Government is investing $200,000 to provide an opportunity to a local production team to produce and work with SBS Food in creating the food series. An Expression of Interest will open today, and Screen Territory and SBS will select the successful application.

The selected project must be produced and post-produced in the NT by a local Territory production team.

The “Delicious Darwin” series will be broadcast on SBS Food and SBS On Demand.

This initiative is aimed at experienced Territory screen practitioners and will further strengthen Screen Territory’s relationship with SBS. The project will also include opportunities for emerging local screen practitioners to participate as attachments on the series.

SBS Food Network is Australia’s first and only free 24/7 food channel, reaching around 4.5 million Australians every month.

SBS Food builds on SBS’s 30 year history in food and offers a broader range of programming, focussing on premium Australian content while exploring the worlds through cooking, cuisine and culinary cultures.
