Katherine Tourism Operators take out Gold, Silver and Bronze at the 2018 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards

Territory tourism has made its mark at the 2019 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Launceston last night, with local operators taking out five awards.

Attending the ceremony, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture Lauren Moss said the awards were an opportunity to celebrate the very best in tourism and showcase outstanding customer service, innovation and ongoing business excellence.

This year’s Territory winners were:

  • Cicada Lodge at Nitmiluk Gorge won two Gold awards: Luxury Accommodation; and Tourism restaurants and Catering Services;
  • Cicada Lodge claimed Silver in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism category;
  • Katherine Outback Experience won Bronze in Tourist Attractions; and
  • Tourism Central Australia won Bronze for Visitor Information Services.

While in Tasmania, Minister Moss attended Ministerial Council meetings for Tourism as well as for Trade, on behalf of the Chief Minister.

She also met with the Tasmania Government (Special Projects and Industry Development) Collect Art Program to exchange ideas on the development of the arts and cultural sectors.
