Creating Jobs: Flightpath Road Supporting New Local Development

Office of the Chief Minister

A $6.2 million contract to construct a new road called 'Flightpath Road' was recently awarded to local contractor Allan King & Sons Construction Pty Ltd.

The Territory Labor Government is creating local jobs and supporting private development by constructing this new industrial connector road in accordance with the Berrimah North Area Plan.

The project which will create a new intersection off Amy Johnson Avenue and will be located approximately 800 metres north of the Stuart Highway - supporting more than 60 local jobs.

Construction of the new 'Flightpath Road' will provide improved access to Berrimah North, including the Berrimah Industrial Precinct.

Key aspects of the new road include four 'T' intersections, open stormwater drainage and an associated stormwater detention basin which will manage stormwater in this area.

Traffic management will be in place during construction with speed reductions and lane closures. Amy Johnson Road will remain open at all times.

Construction is scheduled to commence later this month, with works anticipated to be finalised in December 2019.

Quotes from the Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Eva Lawler:

“The Territory Labor Government’s priority is creating local jobs and supporting Territory businesses. This project alone will support more than 60 jobs - this is why we are delivering continuous high levels of investment in Government infrastructure projects.

“Our Government is supporting and guiding future development – no other Territory Government has been this serious and strategic about job creation and we will continue to contribute to creating jobs, improving services and attracting people to the Territory.”
