Investing in our Community – More Funding For Freds Pass Rural Show

Office of the Chief Minister

The Territory Labor Government has awarded $170,000 over 3 years to the Freds Pass Rural Show - supporting an important community focused event in the Territory.

This important funding will go towards the:

  • 50km Feast, an evening event that celebrates local produce sources from 50km of Freds Pass Reserve and includes dinner by nationally recognised local chefs and a charity auction fundraiser;
  • Enhanced Paddock to Plate, showcasing aspects of the rural areas agricultural, horticultural, organic farming, native plant and bush tucker industries; and
  • Major entertainment and displays.

The Freds Pass Rural Show has been bringing the community together for 40 years, supporting tourism, industry and the local economy.

The Northern Territory Government is backing this, and many other local events, through the Community Benefit Fund Major Community Events Organisation Grant program.

The Show is on this weekend, Saturday 9am to 12:30am and Sunday 9am till 4pm. For more information go to https://www.fredspassruralshow.com.au/

Quotes from the Member for Drysdale, Eva Lawler:

“From small beginnings as a school fete in 1978 to an event that has attracted an estimated half a million Territorians, the much loved Freds Pass Rural Show’s additional funding will ensure Territorians and tourists can enjoy this event for years to come.

“Freds Pass Rural Show has been a staple in the lives of many Territorians over the last 40 years and I congratulate the organisers on such a well-planned, enjoyable event – I look forward to seeing everyone down there.

“This show supports the community and promotes business and industry providing a much needed boost for the local NT economy.”
