Thunderbirds and Lightning to reign at new netball stadium

Office of the Chief Minister

The Territory’s first-ever premier league netball game will be played in Darwin tomorrow at the new state-of-the art Territory Stadium.

The Suncorp Super Netball match, between the Adelaide Thunderbirds and the Sunshine Coast Lightning, is hosted by the Territory Labor Government as part of its $103 million Turbocharging Tourism stimulus package.

Many of the teams’ followers have come to Darwin to be a part of the action and a further 1.2 million viewers are expected to watch the match on free-to-air Channel Nine.

The Territory Labor Government’s $11.8 million investment - matched in part by the Federal Government – in the fully equipped, high quality facility was designed to attract major netball events such as tomorrow’s game.

The game begins at 2:30pm tomorrow, Saturday 8 June. Tickets are available at www.ntix.com.au.
