Creating local jobs: Manunda Place – revitalising the CBD

Works are progressing on the new Manunda Place in the heart of Darwin CBD with the completion of the ground floor slab.

The environmentally friendly nine-storey office tower is creating 250 construction jobs, help to revitalise the CBD and become a new home for Department of Health staff.

When completed in 2020, Manunda Place will house over 800 Government staff.

Building owner, Sandran is meeting its 95% local content commitment and continues to work closely with industry and the Buy Local Industry Advocate throughout the project.

The building’s architecture will feature an internal atriums, a five-star energy efficiency rating, a rooftop garden and shading and greening at street level to help reduce heat loads in the CBD.

Sandran are developing other projects that will contribute to the revitalisation of the CBD including:

o   a 320 bay public car park in Litchfield Street to provide additional parking capacity in the Cavenagh Street precinct;

o   upgrading Energy House with a green façade and childcare centre on the ground floor; and

o   providing a capital contribution to the City of Darwin for upgrades to Litchfield Street.

The next milestone will be the completion of the basements with works commencing at the ground floor plane.
