The Territory Labor Government has delivered a key election commitment, with construction complete on the $30 million, state-of-the-art Palmerston Police Station.

The new police station will become operational in early September and will serve residents of Palmerston and the rural area for decades to come.

The modern new three storey facility is twice the size of the existing Palmerston station and will cater for 200 staff on 24 hour rotating shifts.

It includes a 24 hour watch house, which will enhance response times for Palmerston police, who will no longer have to travel to Darwin to process offenders.

The $30 million project, built by Territory company Sitzler Pty Ltd, supported 340 local jobs during construction.

A family open day will be held on site at the new station on Saturday, 31 August, before it officially opens on Monday, 2 September.
