Acting NT Police Commissioner Plans Confirmed

Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Nicole Manison, today confirmed that Deputy Commissioner, Michael Murphy, APM, will continue to act in the role of Northern Territory Police Commissioner and CEO of Fire and Emergency Services until a permanent appointment is made.

Mr Murphy is currently acting in the role however his tenure was set to expire on August 16.

The position of NT Police Commissioner became vacant following the recent resignation of Reece Kershaw APM to take up the role of Australian Federal Police Commissioner.

A recruitment process is underway and a new NT Police Commissioner will be appointed before the end of the year.
