Work under the Home Improvement Scheme (HIS) has officially begun in Alice Springs with over 40 applications already approved.
The HIS, which proved to be the most popular scheme to date, provided homeowner and landlords with generous co-contribution grants to use in the upgrading of their residence.
Over 2400 HIS applications were submitted in Alice Springs, which will contribute to around $20 million in work for local businesses over the next 12 months.
This funding will support a variety of trades - including, construction, plumbing, painting, landscaping - allowing businesses to keep employees in jobs.
Applications for the Business Improvement Grants and Immediate Work Grants have also now closed and are being assessed - it is expected these initiatives will provide even more injection into Alice Springs.
