Office of the Chief Minister

The much-loved Leanyer Recreation Park will get a $3.1 million facelift, with new waterslides and upgrades to the popular playgrounds and wet area.

The replacement playgrounds will feature modern designs and age appropriate play zones, with the return of the water bucket to the wet area.

The new play features will include:

  • Wheelchair round-about

  • 4X4 car

  • Bird nest seat swing

  • Spray tunnel

  • Water weaver

  • Team blaster

  • Spiral tunnel

The park has more than 150,000 visitors per year, making it one of the Territory’s most popular attractions for locals and tourists, and the upgrades will ensure the park remains a clean, safe environment for all ages to enjoy.

Local company Scope Building NT won the tender for the Waterslide Flume replacement with works on the replacement slides to begin in October after the school holidays.

The tender for the Dry Play area has been released and is expected to be awarded in September.

Potential closure dates will be announced with efforts being made to undertake works outside of peak periods.
