Tourism Industry Roadshow Kicks Off and Vouchers hit new Milestone

Office of the Chief Minister

Tourism NT hits the road with a Territory wide industry roadshow commencing tomorrow in the Red Centre.

The roadshow will make five stops over four days, capturing Yulara, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Katherine and Darwin from Monday 21 September to Thursday 24 September.

The information sessions will deliver updates on key projects including:

  • Destination Management Plans;
  • Marketing Updates
  • Territory Tourism Voucher Round One overview
  • Digital Support Program Launch.

It is the first Territory wide face-to-face roadshow since the full effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic have been felt by the Tourism and Hospitality industries.

One industry stimulus, the Territory Tourism Voucher continues to support the Tourism industry during the ongoing Public Health Emergency with over 21,000 vouchers redeemed so far generating $8.6 million in bookings for tourism operators.

The $5.2 million scheme aims to encourage NT residents to get out and explore their own backyards and support local businesses.

Quotes from Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Natasha Fyles:

“The Territory Tourism Vouchers have seen an immediate and welcome return for Tourism Operators in what have been unprecedented and difficult times for many.

“Our COVID-19 health crisis has caused an economic crisis, and I know many in the industry are hurting. It is pleasing to see Territorians are out enjoying their own backyards and supporting local.

“It’s also timely to commence the Tourism Industry Roadshow as an opportunity to talk to industry about the impacts of COVID-19.

“We’re fortunate to be able to undertake this roadshow face-to-face with no active COVID-19 cases and no community transmission at any stage here in the NT.”
