The Event Development funding from $30,000 to $100,000 is available for events that attract new audiences and encourage visitors to book a trip to the Territory.

These events also help diversify the skills of Territorians and strengthen the capacity of the local events industry.

Quotes from Minister for Major Events, Natasha Fyles:

“Events and festivals play a huge role in the Territory, building pride and community spirit and encouraging people to visit the NT.

“Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the NT was one of the first places in Australia to welcome back live events in line with the ‘new normal’. Now, more than ever, events will play a critical role in helping our economy recover.

“We’ve seen sell-out shows at Darwin Festival, three AFL games attract maximum numbers, and thousands of people enjoy the Darwin Supercars, Red CentreNATS and Parrtjima.

“We have also seen some events go completely virtual, including Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, National Indigenous Music Awards, Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards, and the new National Indigenous Fashion Awards.

“The importance of developing high calibre events unique to the NT to attract the attention of a local, national and international audience cannot be overstated, and this funding will help to do that.”
