The Territory’s intriguing yesteryear will be brought to life by local history buffs, thanks to a $58,000 boost from the Territory Labor Government.
Eleven recipients will share in the 2020-21 NT History Grants funding pool that encourages and supports original historical research about the Northern Territory.
They are:

· Caddie Brain: The Other Side of the Line
· Darwin Lions Beer Can Regatta Association Inc: Can do for 50: Fifty Years in Retrospect of the Darwin Lions Beer Can Regatta
· John Cleary: History of Electrical Trades Union in the Northern Territory
· Dr Pat Bradley: History of Mental Health Nursing in the Northern Territory
· Matthew Stephen: NT Football History
· Norman Watson: Clawing Back: A 70 Year History of the Nightcliff Football Club
· Simmone Croft: A Voice Down the Line
· Jennifer Reilly: Life of Gunar Bekeris
· Derek Pugh: Darwin in the 19th Century
The NT History Grants Program was established by the NT Government to commemorate the attainment of Self-Government on 1 July 1978.
Each year, organisations and individuals are invited to apply for grants of up to $7000 to enable original research that broadens community understanding of, and engagement with, the Northern Territory’s history.
Former NT History Grant recipients have used the funding for ideas such as the development of a walking tour app, radio segments and tactile exhibitions.
