Territory Businesses Jump Aboard ‘Can-do’

Office of the Chief Minister

More than 170 new and existing businesses have lodged applications through the Territory Labor Government’s Can-do Territory online portal, just one month after it launched.

Through the portal, people can apply in one spot online to start a café, restaurant or retail business.

Businesses that are already operating can also renew their food licence, apply for a liquor licence and a trade waste permit.

Information is also available for how to apply for an ABN, how to write a business plan, as well as advice on licences and permits.

So far, there have been 171 submissions to the portal in total.

For food registrations, 131 businesses have opted to renew their registrations, while 28 have applied for new registrations.

Nine new businesses have applied for trade waste permits, while two existing businesses have opted to renew them.

So far, there has been one liquor submission.

The Can-do Territory portal is a recommendation of the Territory Economic Reconstruction Commission, and it is helping the Territory become the easiest place to do business by cutting red-tape.

Quotes from Chief Minister, Michael Gunner:

“This portal is all about making the Territory the Can-do capital when it comes to small business.

“We know how important it is to simplify the process of starting a business, and make more resources accessible to Territorians.

“The less time business owners spend during the application process, the more time they can spend on growing their business and creating more jobs.
