Launch of NTCOSS’ NTcommunity Web Directory

Office of the Chief Minister

The Territory Government in partnership with the Northern Territory Council of Social Services (NTCOSS) and Refuel Creative have delivered a new one-stop-shop website which will assist over 1,600 Territorians visiting the site per month.

Today, the Minister for Territory Families and Urban Housing launched the new online service directory, NTcommunity.

The Territory Government awarded NTCOSS over $710,000 over five years to develop the NTcommunity website and app.

There are 22 service categories and hundreds of organisations currently listed in the directory including support for everything from:

  • accommodation and housing,
  • alcohol, drugs and other dependencies,
  • domestic, family and sexual violence
  • employment and training,
  • financial support, and many more.

To make it easier for Territorians, the new directory has a dropdown menu search function that asks a number of key questions relating to age, gender, region and issues experienced, tailoring the search to meet individual needs and directing Territorians to relevant providers.

Services across the Territory are listed, including our remote settings.

Quotes Attributed to the Minister for Territory Families and Urban Housing, Kate Worden:

“The new online service directory created by NTCOSS offers streamlined services throughout the Northern Territory with the app allowing users to access services offline.

“Some Territorians may be scared or embarrassed to speak to a friend, colleague or family member about issues or troubles they may be facing in their lives. By taking the face-to-face aspect away and centralising support services into one, easy to use directory, we hope that even more people come forward and find the help they need to improve their lives, or the lives of their families.

“In 2017 the Northern Territory Government entered into a five-year, agreement with NT Council of Social Services to develop an online service directory, so we can keep assisting Territorians and making sure people are getting the support they need.”

Quotes attributed to CEO of NT Council of Social Services, Deborah Di Natale:

“Whether you are looking for housing support, children and families services, education, financial advice or mental health care, NTcommunity will let you know who can help.

“It is the first ever one-stop shop for Territory support services which, when coupled with the app, works both on and offline.  We commend the NT Government for working with the community services sector to realise this vision for a comprehensive, evolving community directory. “
