With Easter only a few sleeps away, Territorians are encouraged to support local when it comes to enjoying their seasonal feast.

Easter is traditionally a popular time for families to prepare a seafood spread, or dine on local produce when visiting restaurants.

Buying local seafood means supporting local industries and jobs.

The Territory’s commercial fishing and aquaculture operators inject $136 million into the NT economy each year, which supports around 1,000 jobs.

For every 100 jobs in the seafood industry, a further 50 are created elsewhere.

Every $1 million produced by the seafood industry creates an extra $400,000 through related services, such as fuel, repairs and equipment.

The Territory has some of the most sustainable and well-managed fisheries in the world, and as a result, we are renowned for the quality of our seafood caught in pristine local waters.

Commercial fishing ensures there is fresh seafood for Territorians while supporting the economy and small businesses.
