Multiple Sporting Grants now Open

Office of the Chief Minister

The greatest level of participation in sport and active recreation in the Territory is at the grassroots level - that is why the Territory Labor Government is investing over $150,000 to assist local community groups in this space.

Territorians can now apply for the Sport and Active Recreations Response Grants and the Grass Roots Grants.

Up to $10,000 is available through the response grants, which support Territorians who are selected to represent Australia through an official National Sporting Organisation selection progress, and are aged 12 years or older. Recently, Territory Olympians Jeremy Hayward (Kookaburras men’s hockey team) and Brooke Peris (Hockeyroos women’s hockey team), each received a grant to support their costs to get to the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Grass Roots Grant Program supports sporting organisations to meet unforeseeable equipment expenses and structural repairs, and supporting elite Territorian athletes to represent Australia at recognised international events.

The program aims to increase participation in sport and active recreation in five categories:

  • Participation
  • Volunteer Development
  • Equipment
  • Planning
  • Promotion.

Sport and active recreation clubs and organisations can apply to access a maximum of $5000 across one or more of the five categories.

Apply online for each grant at: grantsnt.nt.gov.au/
