The Chief Health Officer has declared all of Metropolitan Adelaide in South Australia as a hotspot for the purposes of travel to the Northern Territory effective from 12.01am on Wednesday 21 July 2021.

COVID-19 update: Mildura in Victoria declared a hotspot

The Chief Health Officer has declared the Mildura Rural City Council Local Government Area in Victoria as a hotspot for the purposes of travel to the Northern Territory, backdated to 12 July 2021. This date aligns with the period of time people were in the community while infectious. Anyone travelling to the Northern Territory, who has been to the Mildura Rural City Council LGA in Victoria since 12 July 2021 and arrives in the Northern Territory after 4pm on 19 July 2021, will be required to undertake 14 days of mandatory supervised quarantine at the Alice Springs or Howard Springs quarantine facilities.

The Chief Health Officer has declared the Bass Coast Shire Council Local Government Area in Victoria as a hotspot for the purposes of travel to the Northern Territory, backdated to 12 July 2021. This date aligns with the period of time people were in the community while infectious. Anyone travelling to the Northern Territory, who has been to the Bass Coast Shire Council in Victoria since 12 July 2021 and arrives in the Northern Territory after 5pm on 17 July 2021, will be required to undertake 14 days of mandatory supervised quarantine at the Alice Springs or Howard Springs quarantine facilities.

One new COVID-19 case has been recorded in the Northern Territory in the past 24 hours. A 70-year-old male has tested positive for COVID-19. He arrived in the NT on 13 July 2021 from Indonesia on his own yacht travelling from Indonesia.

COVID-19 Update: Wastewater detection

Viral fragments have been detected in wastewater samples taken from the Ludmilla Treatment Plant on 14 July 2021 as part of our surveillance program in the NT. The detection of viral fragments in wastewater can come from someone who has recovered from COVID-19, and while no longer infectious can shed fragments of the virus.
